This Little Light of Mine
Love Judy, Ray, and Jason Lawson - Friends
This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine,
This little light of mine I'm gonna let it shine...
Jimmy was our friend, his light warmed our hearts and he touched us deeply. Trying to find mere words to describe all he meant to us seems a feat too hard to accomplish well.
We liken his life to a candle. Like the most brilliant of stars in the sky. The most beautiful and striking being so bright and strong, they are awesome and unforgettable for their beauty. But in turn they do not burn as long, because they so outshined the others, while we enjoyed their beauty. Like a comet they cannot be missed they too brighten our world for a short time and the privilege of sharing the experience is etched in our memories forever. God made Jimmy like a brilliant star, the light may be gone but the warmth his light left comforts us yet today.
Jimmy was so much more than his illness. His illness was just a minor part of the person we knew and we remember him not for his brave struggle but for his endless gifts and talents.
Jimmy was a master storyteller, we can still conjure the memories of his stories. He didn't just recount them he acted them out and even on the worst days thinking of them makes us laugh yet today. He was an artist, a dancer, and he had a flair for style. He loved majic, jokes, comic books, baseball cards, music, family barbecues, the holidays and his friends. He wanted to be like all the other kids although that was not always easy for him to do. He was brave and strong and loving and fun.
He reminds us of the song, "This little light of mine, Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine. He did.
It was our privilege to know him, love him and we will never forget him.
