Little Brown Eyes

Love Great Aunt Nola and Great Uncle Pete

God never granted us a child. If he had, we would have wanted him to be just like Jimmy. Jimmy was an easy child to love. We have been blessed with many great nieces and nephews but there will always only be one "Brown Eyes". Being Jimmy's great aunt and uncle allowed us to be included in Jimmy's plans for the family. Many times, when he was too sick to travel he would make a special trip just to see us.
When he was three and diagnosed with the dragon, we went to see him in Michigan. At that time, he had some boots which we immediately fell in love with. We asked him to give us the boots when he out grew them and he did. Today, they are with us and we still can see him running in those boots.
Jimmy taught us both how to appreciate life. Even though he was only here for a short period of time, he appreciated each and every day to the maximum. The song "Wind Beneath My Wing" really expresses our deep admiration and love for Jimmy. He was a hero and everything we would like to be. He never questioned his fate and was always there with his love and understanding for two old folks who never had any children.
Jimmy's eyes were the window to his soul. His eyes were always twinkling with merriment, love, and rarely were there tears shed even in his darkest days. Jimmy will always be loved and we would like the following poem included in his book:

One Final Gift

Scatter me not to restless winds,
Nor toss my ashes to the sea.
Remember now those years have gone by...
when loving gifts I gave to thee.

Remember now the happy times...
The family ties we shared.
Don't leave my resting place unmarked
as though you never cared.

Deny me not one final gift
for all who come to see...
A single lasting proof that says
I loved... and you loved me.
