My Little Angel
Jimmy's Beloved Nana
During my 68 years on this earth, God has blessed me with 6 children, 20 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. God gave me 6 healthy, beautiful, talented, and loving children. God also decided to send me a confidant, companion, protector, and best friend who also happened to be my grandson, Jimmy. Jimmy only was given to me for 16 short years and yet in that short time, he taught me many lessons. Jimmy was thankful for each day and no matter how much he hurt never complained. He greeted each morning with the anticipation absorbing each and every second. No day was wasted with feelings of sorrow or the question, why me.
Each morning, when I awaken and my bones complain due to my age, I try and remember Jimny's philosophy. I treasure the promise of the day and remember the one who taught me life's lessons. Jimmy was my little angel who was sent to brighten my world and remind me to look forward to each morning, stop to smell the roses, and be thankful for the day that has begun.
This is my poem I would like in Jimmy's book.
When God calls little children to dwell with him above,
The mortals sometimes question the wisdom of his love,
For no heartache compares with the death of one small child,
Who does so much to make our world seem wonderful and mild.
Perhaps God tires of calling the aged to his fold,
So he picks a rosebud before it can grow old.
God knows how much we need them and so he takes but few
To make the land of heaven more beautiful to view.
Believing this is sometimes difficult still somehow we must try.
The saddest word mankind knows will always be "good-bye".
So when a little child departs, we who are left behind
Must realize God loves children Angels are hard to find.
